Brian Skaggs {Director of STS}Through some difficult life experiences, God has shaped and molded me to have a heart for students and a desire to pour into their lives. My crazy, yet rewarding, job of a student pastor began at another church in the Atlanta area in 2001. I have a beautiful wife named Lisa and two little daughters named Cate & Kenzi. As I continue to embark on my lifelong call to ministry, I am excited to see what God has in store for the ministry here at STS. Kristin Waites {High School Assistant Coordinator}I grew up in Marietta and graduated from Valdosta State University in May 2011. The Lord has blessed me with the opportunity to work with and serve the High School students here at The Church of The Apostles. Throughout college, God revealed to me that He was calling me to a life of ministry. I am excited to be involved in youth ministry and to have the privilege of seeing the students grow into a deeper and more intimate relationship with their Savior. God has given me a passion for pouring into young women and teaching them how to grow in their relationships with Christ. I want to make myself available to each student and their families as we embark on our spiritual journeys together. God has called each of us to share the gospel and His love to those we encounter, and it is my joy to be a part of that as a STS staff member. I spent 5 years in business before the Lord called me into full time ministry. I served 4 years at Perimeter Church as middle school pastor and more recently, 10 years teaching and coaching at Woodward Academy. I have always had a burden for young people and I enjoy coming along side families and partnering with them in the spiritual growth of their teenagers. Mark Johnston {Fifth & Sixth Grade Coordinator}In 1989, while working in the Sports Medicine field, the Lord called me to student ministry. I started out as a volunteer for two years and that eventually led to me becoming a full time Youth Minister in the Presbyterian Church in America where I served from 1992-2002. In 2003 I arrived at Church of the Apostles with my family and immediately volunteered in the STS ministry where I served for five years. Two years ago I was asked to come on staff in a part time role to serve the families in STS. My desire is to minister to our families and see them grow in their relationship with Jesus and be equipped for their ministry wherever God has called them to serve. I have been blessed with an incredible wife Monica and three children Caroline, Elijah and Gideon. Leslie Simpson {STS Outreach}I grew up in Mobile, Alabama and attended college at Auburn University. While there, the chance to serve with middle and high school ministry came up and I instantly loved it. I served in various ways in the youth ministry for over 5 years while majoring in Architecture. After graduation I moved to Atlanta to work at an architectural firm for several years. During that time I continued to work with youth through coaching high school football at Whitefield Academy and by volunteering here at Apostles. My wife Rebekah and I have been married for over 3 years and during that time we have faced many challenges but God has continued to open and shut doors for where He wants me. In January of 2012 an amazing opportunity came about to serve part-time in STS. I followed that calling and it’s been amazing to work with an awesome staff and to see God’s continued blessings through ministry and I look forward to seeing what God has planned next.
