TWISTS

This Week in STS {8.30.15 – 9.6.15}

Sunday, August 30:

We invite you, STS Families, to join us for a joint Family Service for Children’s Ministry and Student Ministry families. This gives us the opportunity to worship together at the beginning of the school year, introduce key ministry staff, set the vision for the coming year, and pray together as families.

We’ll gather in the STS Gym from 9:00 – 9:15 a.m.. Light refreshments and coffee will be available. Starting at 9:15, worship will be led by our STS band, then Zack Carden, Director of Family Ministries, will share the vision for Family Ministries at The Church of The Apostles. He will also introduce our new Director of Student Ministries. We’ll close the service by praying together for our families and the coming year.

*Children’s Ministry (elementary age) will be watching Pilgrim’s Progress in room 420.

**All STS students (5th-12th grade) will be in the Family Service.

Braves

STS Families, we’re going to the Braves vs. Yankees game on Sunday, August 30 @ 1:35 pm!

Wednesday, September 2:

Join us for family dinner in The Commons from 5:00 – 6:00 pm followed by fellowship, games, worship and Bible study in STS from 6:00 – 7:15 pm.

All 5th-12th graders will be in The Loft. After worship, Ryan will be teaching!

Sunday, September 6:

5th – 12th graders, join us in The Gym for worship and large group teaching with Ryan.

The Loft will be closed for a surprise to be unveiled for Promotion Sunday, Sept. 13!

7th-12th Grade Fall Retreat

October 9 – 11, 2015

Join us for an awesome weekend together! We’ll be focusing on Acts 2:42-47. We’re going to Camp Highland in Elijay, GA.

STS has pre-purchased general admission level tickets. Contact STS to reserve your family’s tickets at $10 each. Also, STS has pre-purchased a limited number of parking passes for the Orange Lot ($10 each).

*Limited carpooling will be available – make arrangements with STS staff before Sunday, Aug. 30.

**Plan to meet us at Turner Field’s Main Gate by the Hank Aaron statue.

After his teaching time, students will be divided into prayer groups. Prayer will be facilitated by college students and staff and will be in response to Jonathan’s message and the passage.

  • Hear John and Cindy Morris share their experiences delivering Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes in Ecuador
  • Donate supplies for a huge OCC packing party to be held in November
  • Make Christmas cards for prisoners (Heartbound Ministries)

Lunch is available: $5.00 per person, maximum of $15 per family (pay at the door). No registration required!
