Christmas Brunch & The Nutcracker

All STS Girls (5th-12th Grades) and their moms are invited to join the ladies of STS for brunch and hot chocolate followed by going to the “The Nutcracker” at the Fox Theater. This is one of our favorite events all year. We are so excited to spend time celebrating Christmas with you all!
Brunch will begin at 11 a.m. in STS

The STS team wanted to take this opportunity to remind you of how we’re involved in Apostles’ BIG GIVE initiative.
Sunday, November 10th, during STS, we will be packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. We will provide the shoeboxes if you bring the supplies!
These are suggestions of types of items to bring (remember, these kids are around the age of our STS kids! So, think of what our kids would want or appreciate):
Toys: Small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, small Etch A Sketch®, toys that light up or make noise (with extra batteries), Slinky®, etc…
Hygiene: Toothbrush, toothpaste, mild bar soap (in a plastic bag), comb, washcloth, etc…
School supplies: Pens, pencils and sharpener, crayons or markers, stamps and ink pad sets, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc…
Miscellaneous: Hard candy and lollipops (please double bag all candy), mints, gum, T-shirts, socks, ball caps, sunglasses, hair clips, toy jewelry, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries)

You can give online by using our “Follow Your Box Donation” option, or you can write a check to Samaritan’s Purse (note “OCC” on memo line) and place it in an envelope on top of the gift items inside your box.

Starting Sunday, October 14th until Sunday, November 11th we will have collection bins in the STS entrance for collecting supplies.

Red Top Mountain State Park
We’re renting cottages at Red Top Mountain State Park on Lake Allatoona! We’re excited for a great weekend of activities at this beautiful location as well as worship, teaching and fellowship as a group.
This location offers a variety of free or inexpensive activities like: hiking, fishing (fishing license required), biking, mini golf, pickleball, tennis, and much more.
Please bring your friends along; this trip is a wonderful opportunity for students to build community & quality friendships. 2013 Atlanta Mission Project
5th-6th Grade Students
July 29 – August 1
Join Mark, Anna, volunteers and your friends for a wonderful opportunity to live out your faith as you serve and love others in our city in the name of Jesus! We will partner with two Atlanta-based ministries (Resource Service Ministries and My Sister’s House) for day service projects and we will enjoy a time of fellowship at Stone Mountain Park on Wednesday evening.
Resource Service Ministries is a ministry that works with elderly widows. My Sister’s House provides shelter for homeless women and their children. Participants will be involved in painting a home, doing yard work with RSM and they will assist children in learning and sorting clothes for My Sister’s House. Students will need to wear work clothes each day. (*Please know that students will never be asked to do anything that is beyond their skill level or that is dangerous.)
On Wednesday morning students need to bring a change of clothes, toiletries, sleeping bag, and pillow. After the service project on Wednesday we will return to the Church for dinner and Hour of Power. Immediately after Hour of Power we will depart to Stone Mountain to attend the Laser show.
We will arrive back at COTA around 11:00 p.m. and stay overnight at COTA. If your child will not stay the night at COTA, please make arrangements to pick them up when we return from the Laser show.
Who can participate in the Atlanta Missions Project?
Current 5th and 6th grade students (2012-2013 school year)
Includes breakfast, transportation, Wednesday night dinner and Stone Mountain Laser Show.
Lunch is not included on a daily basis. Students will need to pack a lunch for each day.

2nd Annual Kickball Tournament

We’re so excited about announcing our 2nd Annual Kickball Tournament. This is an exciting opportunity for the community at The Church of The Apostles to spend time together and have fun!
Join us Sunday, April 21st, right after the main service. We have reserved the little league fields at Brinkley Park in Smyrna. They will have the concession stands open for purchases; this is a way that we can support the park.Cost = $10.00/person (If you are signing up more than one person/family member, each additional person is $5.00)
Once you register, we will place you on a team with a mix of people from the four ministries.
STS 2013 5th-6th Grade Spring Retreat
April 26-28, 2013
Whitewater Express, Ocoee, TN
Join Mark, Anna, Brian and the volunteer team for a very exciting trip this Spring.
We are heading to the incredible Whitewater Express camp in Ocoee, Tennessee! We will have a wonderful weekend filled with teaching, worship, and fellowship with friends, a selection of activities to choose from and the wonderful experience of rafting down the Nantahala River!
Students need to arrive at COTA by 5:00 pm on Friday, April 26th. Students will need to be picked up by 3:30 pm on Sunday, April 28th at COTA. Students need to bring clothes for two days in the outdoors, plus one set of clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. (Especially for students who will be playing paintball!) Also, bring rain gear, sleeping bag (or linens), pillow, towel, toiletries, flashlight, your Bible and journal.
All students will participate in whitewater rafting on Saturday afternoon, but Saturday morning students may choose between horseback riding, mountain biking, and the ropes course. (For planning purposes, please do not change activity choice after registration.)
Total Cost = $130.00 (Includes food, transportation, activities, and a t-shirt)
*Students will need to bring money to purchase lunch on the way back to COTA Sunday afternoon.

STS Guys, BASS N’ BLAST is BACK!
All STS guys & dads, we’re excited to announce our 2013 Bass N’Blast dates: March 6-9, 2013 & April 10-13, 2013!
This trip is open to all 5th-12th grade guys and their fathers. It is a great week of outdoor activities (fishing, shooting, etc…) and learning about Biblical manhood.
We offer this retreat during both Public & Private schools’ Spring Breaks.
This year we’ll be going to Camp Arrowhead.
COST: $95.00. (Cost includes lodging, food, and activities)
Thursday, Feb. 28th was the deadline to sign up for the March retreat.
