Houseboat 2014!

2014 Houseboat

July 7-9, 2014

All 7th-12th grade students are invited to join the STS staff and volunteers for an awesome time on Lake Lanier!

We’re renting houseboats at Port Royale Marina on Lake Lanier for two days. The houseboats sleep 10 and there will be at least one adult on every boat. All boat drivers are required to take a boat safety test. We will also have a pontoon boat for water sports like tubing and wake-boarding.

We drive the houseboats and find an island in Lake Lanier and stay for two nights! It is a great time for fellowship, fun, and sun! On Wednesday, the group goes to Lake Lanier Islands Water Park for the day.

Cost: $250.00 (includes lodging, meals, and activities)

2014 5th-6th Grade Retreat

Join Mark, Anna, and the volunteer team for a very exciting trip this spring!  We are heading to the incredible Whitewater express camp in Ocoee, Tennessee!  We will have a wonderful weekend filled with teaching, worship, and fellowship with friends, a selection of activities to choose from and the wonderful experience of rafting down the Nantahala River!

Important Info

Students need to arrive at COTA by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25th.  Students will need to be picked up by 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 27th.  Students need to bring clothes for two days in the outdoors, plus one set of clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. (Especially for students who choose to play paintball.) Keep in mind that it will get cold at nights. Also, bring rain gear, sleeping bag or linens, pillow, towel, toiletries, flashlight, Bible and journal!

Total Cost $130.00 (Includes food, transportation, activities, materials and a T-shirt)

*Students will need to bring money to purchase lunch on the way back to COTA Sunday afternoon.

After registration you will be e-mailed a release form, your balance, packing list, and arrival/departure time.

3rd Annual Kickball Tournament

March 16, 2014 at Brinkley Park, Smyrna

Join us for lunch at Brinkley Park immediately after Church.

Bring your lawn chairs and a picnic as we have our 3rd Annual Kickball Tournament. There will be inflatables, corn hole and other lawn games. Come out and enjoy an afternoon of fun, fellowship, and competition.

The park’s concession stand will be open for purchases, as this is a way we can support them for allowing us the use of their fields (CASH ONLY). The concession stand offers hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, nachos, chips, sunflower seeds, popcorn, candy, Coke products, bottled water and Powerade.

Pets are allowed – owners MUST monitor & pick up after them. No wheeled toys allowed (scooters, skateboards, roller blades, etc…).

We hope to see you there!

April 2-5 & April 9-12, 2014

All 5th-12th grade guys & dads: join the men of STS for a great week of outdoor activities like fishing and shooting. We’ll also be spending time in God’s word and studying Biblical manhood.

We hope you’ll join us!

The April 2-5 retreat will be at Timm’s Mill near Anderson, SC and the April 9-12 retreat will be at Camp Arrowhead near Tuxedo, NC.

Cost: $95.00 (covers lodging, food, and activity supplies)

2014 STS Girl’s Retreat
March 21 – 23, 2014

All 7th-12th grade girls are invited to join the STS staff ladies for a discipleship weekend. We are excited to dig into God’s Word with you and spend time together. We are renting cabins in Pine Mountain near Callaway Gardens and we’ll be going to Callaway on Saturday for activities and dinner.

We’ll meet in STS at 5:00 pm on Friday, March 21st and return by 5:00 pm on Sunday, March 23rd.

Cost: $125.00 (includes lodging, transportation, food, and activities)

Guatemala 2014

2014 Guatemala Mission Trip

We’re excited to announce our 2014 STS Missions Trip!

We’re taking a group to Guatemala! For the past 2 summers our group had a phenomenal experience working with a ministry called Impacto. God has provided and moved in tangible ways; so we’re returning again in 2014!

We will be taking a team to the Lake Atitlan region of Guatemala from June 21st to June 28th. Impacto is a ministry that works throughout Central and South America. Guatemala is one of the poorest countries in Central America and provides a great opportunity to serve. Impacto’s mission is: “To bring salvation, hope, healing, and peace of Christ to the Spanish-speaking world.

Our group will be working with Impacto in numerous ways: constructing homes for widows’ families, doing Vacation Bible Schools, shoe distributions, feeding programs, as well as many other services provided for the poor and lost of Guatemala.

The cost of the trip is $1,600.00.

This trip is open to current 9th-12th grade students (2013-2014 school year).

If there are spots left, we will open the trip up to rising 9th graders on March 1st.

2014 Winter Mission Project

Serving with STS is Good!

All 7th-12th Grade students are invited to join us for our annual Winter Mission Project! This is one of our favorite events all year.

We are partnering with local Atlanta ministries and non-profits for two days of service projects in order to share the love of Christ with our community. Don’t miss this opportunity right in our own backyard!

We’ll be staying Friday and Saturday nights at The Church of The Apostles. A security guard will be on duty all night.

All STS Girls (5th-12th Grades) and their moms are invited to join the ladies of STS for brunch and hot chocolate followed by going to the “The Nutcracker” at the Fox Theater. This is one of our favorite events all year. We are so excited to spend time celebrating Christmas with you all!

The STS team wanted to take this opportunity to remind you of how we’re involved in Apostles’ BIG GIVE initiative.

Sunday, November 10th, during STS, we will be packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. We will provide the shoeboxes if you bring the supplies!

These are suggestions of types of items to bring (remember, these kids are around the age of our STS kids! So, think of what our kids would want or appreciate):

Toys: Small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, small Etch A Sketch®, toys that light up or make noise (with extra batteries), Slinky®, etc…

Hygiene: Toothbrush, toothpaste, mild bar soap (in a plastic bag), comb, washcloth, etc…

School supplies: Pens, pencils and sharpener, crayons or markers, stamps and ink pad sets, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc…

Miscellaneous: Hard candy and lollipops (please double bag all candy), mints, gum, T-shirts, socks, ball caps, sunglasses, hair clips, toy jewelry, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries)

“Please donate $7 or more for each shoebox you prepare to help cover shipping and other project costs. You can give online by using our “Follow Your Box Donation” option, or you can write a check to Samaritan’s Purse (note “OCC” on memo line) and place it in an envelope on top of the gift items inside your box.

DO NOT INCLUDE: Used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy guns, knives or military figures; chocolate or food; out- of-date candy; liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snowglobes or glass containers; aerosol cans. ~Samaritan’s Purse”
